Our story

 In 2006 we decided it was time to add another dog to the family - except this time, I wanted a dog to show in dog shows and compete in dog events together. I'd always been interested in Alaskan Malamutes, so found a few breeders through the Alaskan Malamute Club of America Breeder's List. Long story short, I got my Layla, and got hooked on all things malamute and all dog activities. We've spent the last 10 years learning a little bit of everything together.

In 2013, I knew it was time to look for a puppy. Layla was getting older, and I knew it takes 2-3 years (or more) to be ready to compete with a new dog. Now that I'd been involved in the AMCA, I knew more breeders and had an idea of what type of puppy I wanted going forward. That leads me to my Enda. I waited over a year for her litter to be born. It worked out perfectly - Enda is everything I had hoped for!

For the past few years, I've been researching all that I could on both the Alaskan Malamute breed, as well as how to breed the healthiest puppies with stable, confident temperaments.  I found a male that I thought would be a perfect complement to Enda. Thanks to modern science, we were able to use frozen semen almost 20 years old and got our sweet Tilly out of that breeding. In 2020, we again were able to use science as an aid in our wonderful breeding between Miles (CH Adair'N'Hug's MTS Mark of Excellence) in Colorado and our Enda in New Jersey.

Our breeding program focuses on healthy, structurally sound dogs with fantastic temperaments and working ability. We breed to the AKC Standard. Our goal is to preserve our breed by producing beautiful companions, who are able and willing to participate in all aspects of Alaskan Malamute activities, whether working or performance - and above all else, cherished family members. 

 All breeding stock will have impeccable temperament and are screened at minimum for eyes, heart, thyroid and hips. They will be also be cleared (either by parentage or DNA testing) for polyneuropathy and chondrodysplasia. 

I am an approved mentor and a distinguished member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. I am currently a member in good standing of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America and Lenape Tracking Club, and an associate member of the Empire Alaskan Malamute Club. I'm the former chair of the Performance Committee and formerly served on the AMCA Board of Directors.   

I am an AKC Agility Judge, and Canine Good Citizen / AKC Temperament Test evaluator /trick dog evaluator. I teach dog training classes at a local training facility.

I am the leader of a local 4-H dog club.  

I'm an AKC Canine Ambassador in the American Kennel Club's Canine Ambassador program, giving public education talks and demonstrations on dog related information.

I'm proudly an Avidog Associate Breeder, dedicated to raising puppies with their proven methods of natural rearing and advanced socialization.

I am a member of AKC's Bred with H.E.A.R.T program, pledging to commit to Health, Education, Accountability, Responsibility and Tradition. 

I am very passionate about continuing education - as a breeder, trainer, exhibitor, and owner. I do this through extensive reading of contemporary and historical literature on genetics, veterinary science, animal behavior, and dog breeding; seminars and discussions with veterinarians, scientists, professional dog trainers and handlers, and other members of the dog fancy.  I also put into practice what I have learned by training and exhibiting my own dogs (and sometimes as a substitute handler for a friend if needed).

I have taken several courses through

• I have completed their Transformational Dog Breeding course, which guides you to create your own breeding program's goals and strategies; Transformational Puppy Rearing, full of science and experience in breeding and raising a litter of puppies; and Your Litter A to Z, a very comprehensive course that covers from before breeding, through each trimester of pregnancy, then weekly information until the puppies are sent to their new homes.

I am a member of

 My intent is to preserve our breed, and continually produce a strong foundation of  AKC Alaskan Malamutes for my breeding program who have great temperaments and the ability to compete in conformation, agility, obedience, tracking, and working as well as being great family companions, all the while paying close attention to reducing Health Problems known to Alaskan Malamutes.  It is a genetic juggling act, but I believe it can be done with careful decisions by means of meticulous research, thorough records, and a clear vision.  

 All of my breeding stock and puppies are registered with the AKC (American Kennel Club) and have a CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) number, meaning they have passed their health screenings and are certified through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) at appropriate ages for: Cardiac, Eyes (yearly eye exams), Hips, Elbows, and Thyroid.

I WILL BE AS TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE about the health of all dogs that are bred through me via accessible, thorough, and accurate records.
– I believe that the more information that is made available – no matter if it is positive or negative — the more other breeders can use that information to improve their own lines.
– Prospective dog owners can make an informed decision about purchasing a quality Wild Night Alaskan Malamute.
